Catholic charity announces new Chair to continue mission to solve homelessness | Your Place

Simon first became involved with Your Place in 2011 as part its fundraising appeal board, supporting a major campaign that enabled the charity to expand and strengthen its accommodation and services. He became a Trustee in 2016 and was appointed Chair in 2017, guiding the East London-based organisation through a period of significant growth and transformation.
Under Simon’s leadership, Your Place expanded its reach, modernised its facilities and developed innovative support services that help people move on from homelessness for good. He oversaw the charity’s rebrand, strengthened financial sustainability and championed the voices of those it serves.
“Simon has been a truly inspiring Chair”, said Amanda Dubarry. Chief Executive. “His passion, dedication and strategic vision have been instrumental in helping Your Place go from strength to strength, enabling us to end homelessness for more people than ever before. His leadership has left a lasting legacy that will continue to shape the future of Your Place and that of the people who come through our doors.”
From December 2025, Edward Sparrow will take up the role of Chair of the Board of Trustees. With a distinguished career spanning the legal, educational and charitable sectors, he has a strong commitment to Catholic social teaching and values-driven service.
“Edward’s broad experience and thoughtful leadership will be invaluable as Your Place continues to grow and innovate,” added Amanda Dubarry. “His vision, commitment to social justice and upholding values of compassion and hope aligns closely with our work. We look forward to working with Edward to build on our strong foundations and continue our mission to solve homelessness in East London, one person at a time.”
Edward will lead Your Place into its next phase of growth, supporting its mission to tackle homelessness with a holistic, person-centred approach. The charity offers more than just accommodation; it empowers individuals to rebuild their lives with tailored support, helping them to secure stable housing, gain meaningful employment, and achieve long-term independence.
Edward said:
“I’ve always believed in using my experience to serve the broader public good. The opportunity to join Your Place and contribute to its work in ending homelessness is incredibly inspiring. The focus on providing not just shelter, but also the tools and support needed for long-term success, aligns closely with my own values of empowering individuals and driving positive, sustainable change. I’m honoured to be joining the team and look forward to working together to help people transform their lives.”
Edward’s appointment comes at a time of increased demand for homelessness services. The London Borough of Newham, within the Diocese of Brentwood and where Your Place is based, has the highest levels of homelessness in the country.
