St Joseph’s Primary School & Nursery, Canvey Island has proudly celebrated the hard work and effort of the school’s House Captains. Over the last academic year, the captains showed wonderful leadership in their school by driving creative and heartfelt fundraising.
Each house picked a local charity or cause that they wanted to raise funds for, then it was up to the captains build creative events to raise the money. Each initiative (listed below) reflects the commitment to serving others and living out Catholic Social Teaching in the life of the school – especially the call to the Common Good and Solidarity.
Through their enthusiasm and teamwork, the house captains encouraged pupils to give generously, support chosen charities, and recognise the impact that small acts of kindness can have on our wider community. Their efforts show how young leaders can help build a school culture rooted in compassion, service, and hope.
Among the many successful fundraising events organised were a Christmas Fair, hot chocolate and ice lolly sales, a "Slay the Dragon" game, and even an opportunity to stick the Headteacher taped to the wall. These fun and imaginative activities not only raised valuable funds but also brought the school community together in support of worthwhile causes.
We would like to thank St Joseph's staff, pupils and community for their commitment to Catholic Social Teaching, not in just words but in their actions as well!
