Dear friends of Caritas Brentwood,

Welcome to our first Caritas Round-Up! On the first Wednesday of every month we hope to tell you about all that we’ve been up to during the month before – over September, we’ve certainly been busy. Read some of what we’ve been up to below.

New Resource: Love the Stranger for Young People

On Monday 29th September, we were delighted to launch a new resource that has been a labour of love for us over the past 7 months. Working alongside Caritas Social Action Network (CSAN) to produce this resource has brought both challenges and hopes for the future.

We would like to thank Bishop Paul McAleenan, CSAN, JRS UK, and every one who attended the launch event for their ongoing support.

Season of Creation

As the Season of Creation draws to a close (finishing on Saturday, 4th October), we wanted to take the opportunity to say a big thank you to those of you who have been celebrating the period by praying for greater care for creation – whether that be in your Masses on Sunday, or in your private devotions, and by engaging with our set of resources that we produced.

We also would like to express our own thanksgiving for the release of the Votive Mass for the Care for Creation by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development. To find out more about this new formulary, visit the Dicastery’s website here>>

St Francis of Assisi, pray for us.

Jubilee of Social Justice

On the 20th September at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, CSAN held a Jubilee of Social Justice. The Jubilee was a celebration of all of those who work for social justice and social action in England and Wales. The event was inspiring and touching, especially hearing the testimonies of people whose lives had been improved through the support of Catholic charities and the people who work within them.

We wish to say a huge thank you to the team at CSAN for hosting such an inspiring event, as well as Archbishop Emeritus Malcolm McMahon for celebrating the Mass during the afternoon.
