This Advent, we celebrate the birth of Love in a humble stable and prepare our hearts to welcome the Christ Child. The Holy Family’s story of displacement reminds us to reach out to those facing hardship. As we rejoice, may we remember and support those in our communities across Essex and East London who need our compassion and care.

Caritas Diocese of Brentwood is inviting you to collect items throughout Advent by following our Reverse Advent Calendar. All the items you collect can be placed in a box or container, wrapped or decorated for Christmas, and then donated to your local food bank just in time for Christmas. If you need assistance finding your local foodbank, you can search on the Trussell Trust Website by clicking here.

Below, you will also find a link to our daily thoughts for Advent; these are perfect for sharing in a group chat or using as social media stories. Additionally, there is a list of Advent Actions that you can challenge yourself to complete in time for Christmas.

Whether you are an individual, family, catechist, chaplain, teacher, group leader, or Parish Priest, please do let us know how you are taking part by emailing [email protected]
